I would say that around 90% of the bugs have been ironed out since the release. After suffering bad reviews after a buggy launch, the game has been greatly improved by tons of community mods that have made this game a very fun and addictive experience.

My review: The best and most immersive submarine simulator currently on the market (at this stage it is IMO better than SH3 and SH4). And the always online DRM is no longer forced (can be disabled in Uplay settings), the only thing that requires internet connection is a couple seconds of synchronizing save games with the server. I haven't had one for a very long time, though.

He gives a lengthy, honest and unbiased review that really dives (no pun intended) into the game. I highly recommend the review of Neal Stevens, webmaster of. Sure, it's got its fault, but Silent Hunter 2, III and 4 were also fairly unfinished when they were released, and look at them now, SHIII in particular with the Grey Wolves Expansion. It has an incredibly moddability and already features things never found in III and 4, except through mods: milk cows, wolf packs, far more complex AI, and a far more dynamic campaign where the AI responds well to your every move, and to all the other traffic in the world. However, with all the mods already out, and several more on the way, it's no big leap to believe that this will become a true classic once touched up by patches and mods. At the moment it's incomplete and fairly shallow, with several missing features and unbalances. I've had that problem too, but I got the Wolves of Steel Mod Pack off Subsim and it gets rid of he need for the ton bar and instead sends you areas to patrol instead of requiring a specific amount of tonnage to be sunk.Silent Hunter 5 is a mixed bag. Considering pickings are already slim enough around the coastal waters mission area, not having any of the tonnage count is really frustrating.Ĭould someone explain exactly what I need to do, step by step, to complete this mission? And, if it really is a bug and not just that I'm missing something obvious, what can I do to help? Killing ships within ~50km of the patrol point doesn't count (and that's after waiting forever for a ship to actually come NEAR the point).

I've heard all kinds of differing accounts but nothing's helping me: killing ships inside the red line (the mission area) doesn't count. However, I've had this problem where no matter what I do, none of the kills count. Originally posted by Eggmayonaise:I'm playing through the first mission, and doing the british coastal waters mission (where you have to sink ~50,000 tons).
